ETS encourages participants to continue and graduate from secondary schools or to return to high school if they have dropped out. The goal of ETS is to have participants enroll in some form of post-secondary education.\r\n\r\n<strong>Participant Eligibility:<\/strong>\r\nStudents must be between the ages of 11 and 27 and have completed five years of elementary education.\r\nIn any given project, two-thirds (2\/3) of the participants must be low-income persons who are also potential first generation college students.\r\n\r\n<strong>Sponsoring Institutions:<\/strong>\r\nEducational Talent Search Programs may be sponsored by institutions of higher education, public and private nonprofit agencies, and in exceptional cases, secondary schools.\r\n\r\n<strong>Application\/Funding Process:<\/strong>\r\nCompetitions for Educational Talent Search funding are held every four years. Second, third, and fourth year funding is based on approval of a non-competing continuation application. The grant competitions are held every five years.\r\n\r\n<strong>Services Provided by Educational Talent Search<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 Student academic, financial, and personal counseling\r\n\u2022 Career exploration and aptitude assessments\r\n\u2022 Assistance with the re-entry process\u00a0to high school or college\r\n\u2022 Information on post-secondary education\r\n\u2022 Personal development workshops in areas such as test\u00a0taking and study skills\r\n\u2022 Assistance in completing college admissions testing,\u00a0college admissions applications, and financial\u00a0aid applications\r\n\u2022 Personal growth activities focused on sixth, seventh,\u00a0and eighth graders\r\n\u2022 Tutoring sessions for students with academic need\r\n\u2022 Parental involvement\r\n\u2022 Mentoring\r\n\u2022 Workshops for the families of participants[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_row pix_particles_check=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text] Educational Talent Search Program Description: The Educational Talent Search Program identifies disadvantaged young people who have the desire and the potential for success in post-secondary education.
