At least two-thirds of the students must be low-income, first generation college persons, age 19 or above, who need services in order to pursue a post-secondary education. If the services of an Educational Talent Search Program are not available in the target area, persons under 19 may be served.\r\n\r\n<strong>Application\/Funding Process:<\/strong>\r\nCompetitions for Educational Opportunity Center funding are held every four years. Second, third, and fourth year funding is based on approval of a non-competing continuation application. The grant competitions are held every five years.\r\n\r\n<strong>Sponsoring Institutions:<\/strong>\r\nEducational Opportunity Centers Programs may be sponsored by institutions of higher education, public and private nonprofit agencies, and in exceptional cases, secondary schools.\r\n\r\n<strong>Services Provided by Educational Opportunity Center<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 Academic, financial, and personal counseling\r\n\u2022 Career exploration and aptitude assessments\r\n\u2022 Assistance with the re-entry process \u00a0to high school or college\r\n\u2022 Information on post-secondary educational opportunities\r\n\u2022 Information on student financial assistance\r\n\u2022 Assistance in completing college admissions testing, college admissions applications, and financial \u00a0aid applications\r\n\u2022 Coordination with nearby post-secondary institutions\r\n\u2022 Media activities designed to involve and acquaint the\r\ncommunity with higher education opportunities\r\n\u2022 Tutoring\r\n\u2022 Mentoring\r\n\r\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_row pix_particles_check=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text] Educational Opportunity Center Program Description: The Educational Opportunity Centers Program provides assistance and information to adults who seek to enter or continue a program of post-secondary education.
